circus parade
Elephants through downtown
A circus parade is a procession through town streets advertising an arriving circus, traditionally featuring performers, animals, bandwagons, and decorated floats.
These spectacles were common in the 19th and early 20th centuries, designed to generate excitement and draw crowds to the show: The whole town turned out for the circus parade.
