cloud chamber
Vapor trail device
A cloud chamber is a sealed container filled with supersaturated vapor, used to detect ionizing radiation.
When charged particles pass through, they leave visible trails of condensation—like tiny contrails—allowing scientists to observe subatomic particles.
Cloud chambers were instrumental in early particle physics, though they've largely been replaced by more sophisticated detectors.
