closed stance
Feet angled inward
A closed stance is a body position where the feet, hips, or shoulders angle inward toward the line of action rather than facing it squarely.
In baseball, a batter with a closed stance has the front foot closer to the plate than the back foot: He adjusted to a closed stance to pull the ball.
Golf, tennis, and other sports use the term similarly.
The opposite is an open stance.
