neutral stance
Neither side taken
A neutral stance is a position of noncommitment or impartiality, refusing to take sides in a dispute or controversy: Switzerland maintained a neutral stance during the war.
In physical contexts, it describes a balanced body position—feet shoulder-width apart, weight evenly distributed—used as a starting point in sports, martial arts, or ergonomics.
