Gumby is a green clay animation character from American children's television, known for his flexible, bendable body.
The name has become slang for someone clumsy, awkward, or foolish: He looked like a total Gumby trying to dance.
In surfing, a gumby is an inexperienced or incompetent surfer. (Lowercase gumby refers to the slang uses.)
