livid

Beyond merely angry

Livid originally describes the bluish-gray color of a bruise, and extends to skin discolored by cold, illness, or death: His face went livid from the blow.

The more common modern sense is furiously angry: She was livid when she found out he'd lied.

The connection may be through the pale or flushed appearance of someone in a rage.
