seething
Boiling with rage
Seething describes intense but often suppressed emotion, especially anger.
Someone who is seething feels furious inside but may not be expressing it openly: She sat seething after his dismissive comment.
The word comes from the idea of liquid boiling violently, and that image carries over—seething rage bubbles just below the surface, ready to overflow.
Less commonly, seething can describe any agitated, churning movement: a seething mass of insects.
