chloroformed
Knocked out medically
Chloroformed means rendered unconscious by chloroform, a volatile liquid once widely used as an anesthetic.
The word appears most often in crime fiction and historical accounts, where villains chloroform victims by pressing a soaked cloth over the nose and mouth: She was chloroformed and dragged into the van.
The method is far less effective than fiction suggests.
