gagged
Mouth bound shut
Gagged means having something placed in or over the mouth to prevent speaking or crying out: The kidnappers gagged their victim.
By extension, to gag someone is to silence or censor them: The court order gagged the press.
Gagged also serves as the past tense of gag in its other senses—to choke or retch, or to tell jokes: He gagged on the bitter medicine; The comedian gagged his way through the set.
