chili

Spicy bean dish

Chili is a hot pepper of the genus Capsicum, or the powder made from dried peppers.

Chili also names a spiced stew of meat and beans—or just meat, if you're a Texan purist: a bowl of chili, chili con carne.

The spelling varies: chili, chile, and chilli all appear, with regional preferences.

I added extra chili powder to the pot.
