chili con carne
Spicy beef stew
Chili con carne is a spicy stew of meat, chili peppers, and often beans and tomatoes.
The name is Spanish for "chili with meat." In American usage, it's typically shortened to just chili: a bowl of chili, chili dog.
Regional variations abound—Texas chili famously excludes beans.
