children's home
Foster care facility
A children's home is a residential institution where orphaned, abandoned, or neglected children live under group care rather than with families.
The term is somewhat euphemistic, emphasizing the homelike ideal over the institutional reality.
Similar to but distinct from foster care, which places children with individual families: She grew up in a children's home after her parents died.
