birth family
Original blood relations
Birth family refers to the biological relatives a person is born into, as distinguished from adoptive, foster, or step-families.
The term appears most often in adoption contexts, where someone raised by non-biological parents may later seek contact with their birth family: She found her birth family through a DNA testing service.
