chemical pregnancy
Very early loss
A chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage, occurring shortly after implantation—typically before five weeks of gestation.
The pregnancy registers on a sensitive test (hence "chemical") but ends before an ultrasound could detect a gestational sac.
Many occur without the woman realizing she was pregnant at all.
