stillborn
Born without life
Stillborn describes a baby born dead rather than alive: The child was stillborn.
By extension, stillborn applies to ideas, plans, or projects that fail before they begin or never get off the ground: The proposal was stillborn, rejected before it reached committee.
As a noun, a stillborn is a baby who died before or during delivery.
