butterfish
Oily Atlantic species
Butterfish is any of several slippery, silvery fish found in Atlantic and Pacific waters, named for their smooth, mucus-coated skin.
The term also applies to escolar, an oily deep-sea fish that can cause digestive distress if eaten in quantity—sometimes sold misleadingly as "white tuna" in sushi restaurants.
