forkball
Sharp-dropping baseball throw
A forkball is a baseball pitch gripped with the ball wedged deeply between the index and middle fingers, like being held by a fork's tines.
The grip reduces spin, causing the ball to drop sharply as it approaches the plate.
It differs from the splitter, which uses a shallower grip and breaks less dramatically.
His forkball drops off the table.
