starting rotation

Team's main arms

In baseball, the starting rotation is the group of pitchers who take turns beginning games, typically four or five players who cycle through in sequence.

A team's rotation determines which pitcher starts each game: He's the ace of the starting rotation.

The term reflects how these assignments rotate rather than being fixed.
