brake lever
Bicycle deceleration grip
A brake lever is the handle on a bicycle, motorcycle, or similar vehicle that activates the brakes when squeezed or pulled.
Most bikes have two—one for the front brake, one for the rear: She grabbed the brake lever and skidded to a stop.
The term also applies to the hand-operated lever in older vehicles before foot pedals became standard.
