bodysnatcher
Steals fresh cadavers
A bodysnatcher is someone who steals corpses, historically from graves to sell to medical schools for anatomical study.
The practice was common in the 18th and 19th centuries when legal sources of cadavers were scarce.
The term now applies more loosely to anyone who illicitly removes bodies: The funeral home director was arrested as a bodysnatcher for selling body parts.
