resurrectionist
Grave robber historically
A resurrectionist was someone who dug up freshly buried corpses to sell to medical schools for dissection—a practice widespread in 18th and 19th century Britain and America, when demand for cadavers far exceeded legal supply.
The term applies more broadly to anyone who revives or brings back something from the past: a resurrectionist of forgotten jazz recordings.
In religious contexts, a resurrectionist believes in bodily resurrection.
