bodysnatchers

Stealers of cadavers

Bodysnatchers are people who steal corpses, historically from graves to sell to medical schools for dissection.

The practice was common in the 18th and 19th centuries when legal cadavers were scarce.

The term extends to science fiction, where bodysnatchers are aliens who take over human bodies: Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Informally, a bodysnatcher is anyone who recruits people away from their current positions.
