bloodhounds
Droopy-eared trackers
Bloodhounds are large scent hounds with drooping ears, loose skin, and an extraordinarily keen sense of smell.
They're renowned for tracking—able to follow trails days old over long distances, making them invaluable for finding missing persons or fugitives: The bloodhounds picked up the escapee's scent.
Figuratively, a bloodhound is anyone who pursues something with dogged persistence.
