bench warrant
Judge's arrest authorization
A bench warrant is a court order issued by a judge (from the bench) for someone's arrest, typically for failing to appear in court or comply with a court order.
Unlike arrest warrants based on probable cause of a crime, bench warrants arise from contempt or disobedience of the court itself: The judge issued a bench warrant when the defendant missed his hearing.
