backup copies
Data insurance files
Backup copies are duplicate versions of files or data kept separately from the originals, created as protection against loss or corruption.
The term emphasizes redundancy—if your primary files are damaged, deleted, or encrypted by ransomware, backup copies let you restore them: I keep backup copies of all my photos on an external drive.
Often shortened to simply backups.
