auto-save

Work loss prevention

Auto-save is a software feature that automatically saves your work at regular intervals, protecting against data loss from crashes, power outages, or forgetting to save manually.

Most word processors, email clients, and creative applications include auto-save: I lost power but auto-save had my document from two minutes ago.

The verb form describes the action itself: The app auto-saves every thirty seconds.
