atomic model
Subatomic structure representation
An atomic model is a representation of how atoms are structured—how protons, neutrons, and electrons are arranged and behave.
Different models have emerged as understanding advanced: Bohr's model depicts electrons orbiting a nucleus like planets around a sun; the quantum mechanical model treats electrons as probability clouds.
The atomic model taught in high school chemistry is simplified for clarity.
