antbirds

Army ant followers

Antbirds are a family of small insect-eating birds native to Central and South American forests.

The name comes from their habit of following army ant swarms to catch insects flushed out by the ants—they eat the fleeing prey, not the ants themselves.

Most are drab brown or gray with subtle patterns.
