drongos
Black fork-tailed birds
Drongos are tropical birds with glossy black plumage and forked tails, found across Africa, Asia, and Australia.
In Australian and British slang, a drongo is a stupid or incompetent person: Don't be such a drongo.
The insult comes from an Australian racehorse named Drongo, famous for never winning despite showing promise.
