anosmia
Nose stops working
Anosmia is the loss or absence of the sense of smell.
The condition may be temporary, as when a cold blocks the nasal passages, or permanent, resulting from injury or nerve damage.
Anosmia gained widespread attention during the COVID-19 pandemic, when sudden loss of smell became a telltale symptom: I knew something was wrong when the anosmia hit.
