adduct
Pull toward midline
To adduct is to draw a body part toward the midline of the body—the opposite of abduct.
When you lower your arm from a raised position or bring your legs together, you're adducting them.
The term is primarily anatomical and medical: The muscle adducts the thumb toward the palm.
An adduct in chemistry is a compound formed when molecules join without losing atoms.
