acrostics
First-letters spell words
Acrostics are word puzzles or compositions where certain letters—typically the first letter of each line—spell out a word, phrase, or message when read vertically.
Poets sometimes embed names or themes this way: The first letters of each stanza spell ELIZABETH.
The term also covers puzzles where solvers fill in words from clues, with initial letters forming a hidden message.
