Zama
Scipio's decisive victory
Zama is the site of an ancient battle in North Africa (202 BCE) where Roman forces under Scipio Africanus defeated Hannibal, ending the Second Punic War.
The name appears in historical discussions of Roman military triumph and Carthaginian defeat: Hannibal met his Waterloo at Zama.
Also used as a given name or surname. (Lowercase zama is a Zulu loanword meaning "to try.")
