Whitsun
Seventh Sunday, Easter
Whitsun is the Christian feast of Pentecost, celebrated seven weeks after Easter to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.
In British usage, Whitsun also refers to the week beginning with Whit Sunday, traditionally a time for fairs, outings, and community celebrations: the Whitsun holidays, a Whitsun wedding.
