West Jerusalem
Israel's seat of government
West Jerusalem is the western portion of Jerusalem, under Israeli control since the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and recognized internationally as part of Israel.
It serves as the seat of Israel's government, including the Knesset and Supreme Court.
The term distinguishes it from East Jerusalem, which Israel captured in 1967 and later annexed—a move not widely recognized internationally.
She grew up in West Jerusalem.
