Walloons
Southern Belgian people
Walloons are the French-speaking people of southern Belgium, or their descendants elsewhere.
The term distinguishes them from the Dutch-speaking Flemish of northern Belgium.
Walloon also refers to their Romance language, now largely supplanted by standard French: The Walloons and Flemish have long debated language policy in Belgium.
