United Ireland

Nationalist political goal

United Ireland refers to the political goal of unifying the Republic of Ireland with Northern Ireland (currently part of the United Kingdom) into a single sovereign state.

The concept has been central to Irish nationalism since partition in 1921: Sinn Féin continues to campaign for a united Ireland.

Support for unification varies across communities, with unionists opposing and nationalists favoring it.
