Johnny Carson
Johnny Carson was an American television host who dominated late-night broadcasting for thirty years as host of *The Tonight Show* (1962–1992).
His name evokes a particular era of American entertainment—when a single host commanded massive audiences nightly.
References to Carson typically invoke either that cultural moment or the gold standard of talk-show hosting: He's no Johnny Carson.
