Trotskyists

Anti-Stalinist Soviet leftists

Trotskyists are followers of Leon Trotsky, the Russian revolutionary who opposed Stalin's consolidation of power and advocated permanent worldwide revolution rather than socialism in one country.

The term applies to various far-left political movements and parties that trace their ideology to Trotsky's writings.

Critics—especially other Marxists—use it dismissively: The Trotskyists were blamed for splitting the left.
