Fabians
British evolutionary socialists
Members of the Fabian Society, a British socialist organization founded in 1884 that advocated gradual reform rather than revolution.
The Fabians believed socialism could be achieved through democratic processes, education, and incremental policy changes.
Notable members included George Bernard Shaw and Sidney and Beatrice Webb.
The name comes from the Roman general Fabius Maximus, known for patient, cautious tactics against Hannibal.
