Smith-Corona
Classic typewriter manufacturer
Smith-Corona was an American typewriter manufacturer, dominant through much of the twentieth century.
The name became nearly synonymous with portable typewriters in homes and offices: She typed her college papers on a Smith-Corona.
The company later produced word processors before fading as computers took over.
Smith-Corona now evokes mid-century typing culture—the clack of keys, carbon paper, correction ribbon.
