Serpent
Genesis garden villain
A serpent is a snake, especially a large one.
The word is literary or archaic in most contexts, carrying connotations of menace or evil that snake lacks: The serpent tempted Eve in the garden.
Biblical and mythological serpents figure prominently in Western imagery.
Serpent also names a bass wind instrument with a distinctive S-curved shape, used in early orchestras and military bands.
