San Joaquin Valley
Central California farmland
San Joaquin Valley is the southern portion of California's Central Valley, stretching roughly 250 miles from Stockton to the Tehachapi Mountains.
It's one of the world's most productive agricultural regions, growing almonds, grapes, citrus, and vegetables.
The valley is also associated with oil production, extreme summer heat, and persistent air quality problems: The San Joaquin Valley's smog rivals Los Angeles.
