Hanford is a city in central California, the seat of Kings County in the San Joaquin Valley.

More prominently, Hanford refers to the Hanford Site in Washington State, a nuclear production complex that manufactured plutonium for the Manhattan Project and Cold War weapons programs.

The site remains one of the most contaminated nuclear waste sites in the United States, subject to ongoing cleanup efforts: The Hanford cleanup will cost billions and take decades.
