SI joint

Spine-pelvis linking point

The SI joint is the sacroiliac joint, where the base of the spine meets the pelvis.

This joint connects the sacrum to the ilium bones on each side and bears much of the upper body's weight.

SI joint dysfunction is a common source of lower back pain: The doctor thinks my SI joint is inflamed.
