A Rastaman is a male follower of Rastafari, a religious and cultural movement that originated in Jamaica in the 1930s.
Rastafari centers on the belief that Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I was divine, and emphasizes African heritage, spiritual use of cannabis, and rejection of Western materialism (called "Babylon").
Rastamen are often associated with dreadlocks, reggae music, and distinctive speech patterns.
