Rabindra Sangeet

Rabindra Sangeet is the body of songs composed by Rabindranath Tagore, the Bengali poet and Nobel laureate.

The collection encompasses over two thousand songs spanning devotional, romantic, and patriotic themes, forming a distinct genre in Bengali music.

The songs follow specific melodic and rhythmic conventions established by Tagore himself: She grew up singing Rabindra Sangeet at family gatherings.

Two of these compositions became the national anthems of India and Bangladesh.
