Podunk

Stereotypical backwater locale

Podunk refers to a small, insignificant, or isolated town, typically rural and considered backward or unsophisticated: some podunk town in the middle of nowhere, I'm not staying in this podunk place.

The word is dismissive, suggesting a place so minor it barely exists on the map.

Often used attributively: a podunk gas station, podunk local politics.
