Mohegan

Thames River people

Mohegan refers to the Algonquian-speaking people indigenous to what is now southeastern Connecticut, or a member of that people.

The term also designates their language, closely related to Pequot.

The Mohegan nation, distinct from the Mahican people of the Hudson Valley despite similar-sounding names, maintains a reservation in Connecticut and operates the Mohegan Sun casino.
