Orléans

French cathedral city

Orléans is a city in north-central France on the Loire River, historically significant as the site where Joan of Arc broke the English siege in 1429 during the Hundred Years' War.

The city lends its name to New Orleans in Louisiana, founded by French colonists.

The House of Orléans was a cadet branch of the French royal family.
